I’ve been working with Michael for over a year. I’ve been training and racing for many years and have done so with some success in terms of setting PRs, working my way up to longer endurance events, and even doing so with limited injuries. But the success I have found since working with Michael and X3 Training have been above and beyond my expectations. Having a personalized program that addresses my needs, an outside eye to question my habits, and a coach and now friend to challenge me physically and mentally has generated growth, change and improvements all around. I do not lack in the motivation department and have always trained consistently and hard, but not necessarily efficiently and with purpose, which I now do with X3. I now recommend that people who are starting out, who have plateaued, or who feel unfocused in their fitness goals work with X3 Training because of the first hand results I’ve experienced.”

As a coach, Michael is approachable, and extremely knowledgeable (ask him anything – you’ll see. Just grab a chair first!). My running has improved drastically, all while staying injury free. With X3’s help, I was able to run my first ever marathon in just over 4 hours. I arrived at the start line of that race, both physically and mentally prepared, and crossed the finish line smiling. It was one of the most solid races I have ever run.”

Disk injury five years ago left me with persistent lower back pain. When my physiotherapist recommended strength training as a good next step in my healing, I was sceptical! When I saw the kettlebells for the first time, even more so. With Michael’s training, however, I now can’t believe how much I can lift and how good it makes me feel. My back pain has completely subsided because my core is so much stronger. Michael is a fantastic coach who has really paid attention to my specific health concerns and developed a program to help me safely reach my goals of living stronger and pain free.

Upon first hearing about kettlebells, I was very wary. I thought swinging weights around, one was bound to get injured! Michael has been a fantastic coach, very conscientious about demonstrating correct form and keeping us injury free. His classes are a great workout and lots of fun despite being very tough! Strengthening my core and leg muscles has increased my running speed without much extra effort on my behalf. Running faster feels easier. I highly recommend Michael as a coach/teacher.”

Since I’ve started training with Michael, I feel that my speed has increased and I have a better feel for pacing for myself. I no longer use all my energy at the beginning of a run, which means a stronger finish. Lastly, having a good coach with a good group makes training more enjoyable and that makes me a happy runner.”

It’s taken a little time away to really get some perspective on the past year. Last fall when you asked for hours per day I was available to train and I put 4 hours down on weekends I wasn’t expecting you to actually fill all 4 hours 🙂 The fact that somewhere along the way that stopped seeming like a completely ridiculous idea says a lot.

So, thanks for helping me achieve things I didn’t know I could do and for getting me through it in one piece! After 11 years of achilles problems playing ultimate the fact that I made it through pretty much a year straight of injury-free training is awesome.

I’ve been working with Michael since November of 2013. Over our short time together, I have successfully participated in 3 road races and, most recently, Ironman 70.3 Mont Tremblant. I completed each road race with significant PRs (over 10 minutes in one case!) and met my goal of completing my very first 70.3 upright and smiling.
